H. Michael Falconer (“H-man”) Royal Oak, Michigan
Current bikes:
03 Yamaha FZ1
94 Honda CBR F2 (Track Bike)
Years riding:
5
Joined HSTA:
2003
How did you first hear about the HSTA?“
While attending an International Motorcycle Show in Detroit I stopped by the HSTA booth where I met and talked with Azrine Abu-Seman (Michigan HSTA member).” Shortly after that encounter “H-man” joined up with the Michigan chapter!
First Bike:
2000 Buell MZ Cyclone (“H” added that this should NOT be your choice for a first bike!)
Favorite Bike:
FZ1
Who (or what) was your biggest influence in motorcycling?
Mike Massara. Mike is the leader of the local “BRAG” (Buell Riders Adventure Group) Chapter and a lead instructor for Sport Bike Track Time. Mike has been very influential in his street riding and track instruction.
Favorite place to ride:“
Beaver Run in Pennsylvania!” “H” likes this track for its elevation changes and the very “grippy track surface”.
Most memorable motorcycle adventure:“
While on a trip in Ohio with some fellow HSTA-ers, I realized that I somehow forgot to install the air filter back on my Buell. I zip-tied a rag over the snorkel and was doing fine until the ride home. The bike suddenly started performing poorly (the older Buells may have been a bit unreliable, but they certainly performed well) and eventually died. It turned out the rag got sucked into the intake snorkel!”
Best motorcycle advice or tip learned over the years:“
Look where you want to be and NEVER PANIC!”
What turns you on the most about motorcycling or why do you like to ride?
“It’s an adrenaline rush! It also just brings such satisfaction getting the bike to perform as I will it to do. Well… most of the time anyway.”
What do you get out of the HSTA?
“Comradeship” - It’s the neighbors that make a neighborhood great and worth staying. It’s your co-workers that make a job enjoyable. The people I’ve met at our monthly meetings and on weekend events are just really good people”
Best question that wasn’t asked:“
H-man’s question: What type of road do you prefer to ride? Straight? Tight twisties? Sweeper? Challenging hills (i.e., blind rises and turns)? “H-man’s answer: Definitely the sweepers. Even chicanes.
